Prepositions: For & During

Go to the Quiz

Use “for” to say how long, or duration. Examples: for three weeks, for a year.
Use “during” to say when something happens. Examples: during our vacation, during the meeting.

NOTE: Often you can substitute the preposition “in” for “during” with little or no change in meaning.

Example:
Karen showed us some sales figures during the meeting,.
Karen showed us some sales figures in the meeting,.
